Name-calling (part II)

So the name is still pending. I do thank you for all the input. Some of them were quite clever:

"Big Joe"... I just can't bring myself to call a small truck big.
"The Sword of 1000 Truths"... And paint a sword across the hood?
"Monty"... Catchy! If I come up with a good reason...
"Challenger"... Yes, I know, I know. But I don't intend to repeat history that soon.
"Trickie-woo"... I'm sorry, I haven't read the book, so I wouldn't be honest.
"Truckie-woo"... Clever, but see above.

Additional thoughts:

"Walker" or "Chuck"... Hehe. Tell me you know where I'm going with that and why.
"Silver" or "Trigger"... Good names for a good steed.
"Casper"... The friendly ghost?

Dubbel Zout

Just for fun...I found something that made me laugh--minus a liberties in the language.

Ever tasted tire rubber made with extract of licorice and then salted profusely? That was what I thought when I first tasted the stuff years ago. Now? Well, I actually like it. Somehow, this guy who doesn't profess any dutchness of his own came to like something they call candy in Holland.

And now for the link that made me laugh. It's pretty witty, again but be sure to mind the language.

Portait of need

Yesterday a coworker of mine shared with me and a couple others that his girlfriend is pregnant. My reaction was mixed...basically because his was as well. While he tried to be upbeat and declare how he just had to move on and deal with it and, "I really like kids" etc., it was easy to see that there was more to his emotions than just the paradoxical inconvenient and anguished blessing of his second child out of wedlock.

His emotions could be mapped thus: since he was working a one-man job process that day, he (judging from my experience in that job) got ample time to think. He mentioned being "bored out of his mind" at one point, and also said at another point that his "thoughts are racing."

Understandable.

From all this and other things I have seen, it seems he has a conscience and that is encouraging. Unfortunately it appears as if he is fighting against it. He looked for empathy from his coworkers and several responded with as much--myself trying to offer the right kind encouragement but without much opportunity for more than a little bit. I have heard something of a profession of faith from him in the past--unsanctified as he seems to live his life. He clearly still needs Christ. He recognizes his weaknesses, such as a general lack of self-control and I think a lot of his past haunts him, rough as it has been. I need not go into the other difficulties we have seen him go through since he started working here.

His name is Matt if you find you are able to pray for someone you haven't met formally.

Rational clarifications

Hey folks. I hope I didn't scare anyone. I do appreciate the concern. My impetus for the last post was work related and simply personal introspection on the stupidity of human nature as it manifests itself under stress.

That's really all. I'm doing fine really. God has blessed me beyond measure or deserving now and always. So I hope you won't be overly concerned when I randomly bemoan this body of sin--although the offered prayers are certainly welcomed and appreciated!

Rational man that I am

What's happening? Why am I being questioned again? Doesn't anyone trust me? Granted I'm wrong in this case but is that any reason to admit it and create the impression I am usually wrong? That would be a disaster if I really hope to maintain any kind of trustworthiness--and earning trust is a good thing! Let's go over it again, though. I might not really be wrong in the first place. I don't know enough to be positive of fault so how can I risk my good name by admitting the possibility? It's a good thing I'm able to think critically through these things or I might end up being a child all my life...
